Wing is a Sprint MVNO that offers a unique pricing system.
This is perhaps the most important thing when deciding on a cell phone service provider to use. Although Wing runs off the Sprint network, which is well known for its poor coverage and speeds, it makes up for that with both domestic and international roaming. They claim to offer “domestic voice and data roaming”, which is a must-have for an MVNO on the Sprint network. You can also use your phone at 3G speeds in 135 countries, for only $13 per GB!
If everyone had the same features as Wing, consumers would have much better choices than they do now. Wing, unlike most MVNOs, offers:
- Unlimited talk and text on all plans
- HD voice and Wi-Fi calling
- Visual Voicemail
- Mobile Hotspot
- Picture and Video messaging
All of those features are amazing, and they are complemented by Wing’s unique plan pricing structure.
Another important thing to consider when deciding on an MVNO are their plans. Wing takes a Google Fi like approach: pay for what you think you’ll use, and refunded for what you don’t use in the form of bill credits. The one thing they offer that Google Fi doesn’t is unlimited 2G data, even if you don’t upgrade your plan. They currently have the following plans:
- 1GB for $20
- 2GB for $27
- 3GB for $34
- 5GB for $50
- 7GB for $66
- Unlimited GB for $70
They also have a plan for $12 that has unlimited talk and text with 128MB of 3G data, aimed at non-smartphone users. They do not yet offer family plans, although they do say they are working on it.
They don’t seem to have finished setting everything up, as you can sign up for beta, but they do have a solid set of features for the price.
Wing allows you to bring your own phone, or you can buy one from them. Even here they break apart from the rest of the MVNOs, offering a phone leasing program. For example, you can get an iPhone SE for only $19.75 a month, for 24 months! On top of that, you can upgrade after 12 months of payments, ensuring you always have the latest and greatest phone!
Overall, Wing is an amazing MVNO offering unbeatable pricing with nearly unheard of features. They unfortunately do not have taxes and fees included in their prices, but everything else they do makes up for that. They even beat Boost Mobile at domestic roaming, even though Boost Mobile is owned by Sprint!
